It's time to say NO! to public
funding of religion, "faith-based"
partnerships, coercive prayer in
government and other violations
of the First Amendment!
DEFENDING THE WALL AT THE
PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE IN NORTH CAROLINA
American Atheists takes its "Defending The Wall" campaign to Winston-Salem,
N.C. and the October 11 presidential debate at Wake Forest University. In
July and August, the campaign included demonstrations outside the Republican
Convention in Philadelphia, and the Los Angeles Democratic National
Convention.
The Campaign calls attention to the policies of the two major political
parties which threaten the First Amendment separation of church and state...
- "Charitable Choice" and "Faith-Based Partnership" schemes which seek to
use public money for religious groups to administer social services and other
programs.
- "Special Rights" legislation such as the recently enacted Religious Land
Use and Institutionalized Persons Act and the numerous state Religious
Freedom Restoration Acts. These measures provide special rights for
religious groups, allowing them to flaunt zoning regulations, land use
ordinances and other statutes which everyone else -- from private home owners
to businesses -- must obey.
- Schemes to "privatize" education (at public expense) and use voucher
money and other public policy resources to support religious schools.
For further information please visit Why American Atheists is protesting at the
presidential debate. We also have further information on
Charitable Choice and
Faith-Based Partnership.

the protest. Each person will be given a colored wristband, color-coded for

Presumably, people will not be allowed to "mix" at the protest site.
- Because of various concerns, it is not recommended to bring children to
