Bring Invocations to 9/11 Memorial
I would like to take a moment to side with religious leaders against Mayor Bloomberg's decision not to have religious and philosophical invocations at the 9/11 anniversary event. I think such invocations should be allowed, and I would indeed like to volunteer to give such an invocation on behalf of nonreligious people. After all, this holiday is about what happens when religion goes wrong, and theocrats take over. I'd like 30 seconds to talk about it at the event.
I know, in order to allow me to speak, we'd have the let the Christians speak too, but that's ok, because fair is fair. It would also be fair to have the Jews, the Buddhists, and of course, the Muslims, there to give their invocations, but I am sure that will all go over well. In fact, every religion would have to have equal time to invoke their god or say something particular to their theology, but that's OK, because if we all tried we can still keep the meaning focused on the victims and heroes of 9/11, and not on our theological positions and the differences therein.

If everything they said wasn't proof enough of how any sort of religious invocation would only accentuate our differences because of theological positions, I don't know what would. And that's neverminding that, if he DID allow a Muslim imam or similar to speak, Fox Noise would be all over that like flies on shit.
Religion will try and put emphasis on itself. That turd in the suit did the same thing in a way I think diminished everyday Americans and the actual fire and rescue crews. Instead of us all being one nation in a tragedy, clergy were given special preference to that asshole. And if they allowed a non-religious speaker as well as anyone else who wanted in, either we'd see the same kind of non-9/11 proselytizing or we'd receive unwarranted hostility because people found out we exist and still have rights.
You dumb, dumb asses. I've been a committed atheist since 1975, and every time you post your PR-ignorant screeds, I have to cover my ears in shame. We're smarter than they are. Let's stop acting dumber than they are. Jesus. Which is an excellent curse-word, by the way. Which reminds me, have a fucking sense of humor. Goddamn it.
Seriously, I'm so mad at you morons, for thirty years and counting. WE'RE RIGHT! And in the press, we look marginalized.
