Project Reason 2011 Video Contest Ready for Voting
Our friends over at Project Reason hosted a video contest to create videos promoting critical thinking. They've narrowed the field down to six finalists and now it is up to everyone to pick the winner. The stakes are high, because the winner will receive $10,000.00!
There were a lot of amazing videos submitted and of course the mumblings have already started about how they chose one video over another when clearly "A" was better than "B." Similar to the rumblings at the end of America's Funniest Home Videos, "What?!? How is that video funnier than the other ones they showed?" I know... I've been there too: trying to wrap my head around the judge's decision as to which three videos made the finals for the audience to choose the winner. But I digress...
Bickering over the finalists aside... it's time to choose a winner and put $10,000 in the hands of a fellow critical thinker, skeptic, and atheist! The voting page is up at Reason Project.
Not to play favorites, but....
Science is a vaccine

Thanks to our friend Staks Rosch for letting us know about this! He suggested two videos that didn't make the cut (you know that grumbling I mentioned above) that I have to admit I thought would have made great finalists as well. Here is one of them...

My vote goes to "Science is a vaccine" although "Think" is a close second. It was creative, to the point, the music was catchy, and I liked the focus on children which is when all the brainwashing starts. Children need to be innoculated early with science to prevent ignorance in the future.
All 3 videos were good though. Thanks for sharing.
I just watched the other finalists' videos on the link that Blair provided and they are also good. I do have to recommend the "The New Age Medic." It was laugh out loud funny and very creative. "In His Own Words" (Einstein's words) was also thought provoking and well done. I hope you will post the winner.
"Think" is the best. It's artistic and really communicates the fallacy of following herds.
They're all great. For me, it's a tough call between 1 and 3 but I think I have to go with 3 for the win.

Of course, the right answer is to perform a scientific study of the effectiveness of all three where subjects are watching the videos inside functional MRI machines and then pick the one with the greatest effect.
