So... What's an Atheist parent to do if the school decides to allow any parent to teach about the observed holiday of their choice? PARTICIPATE! Our President, Ellen Johnson, did so during the last Winter Solstice season. Without preaching Atheism, she went into her kid's classroom and taught about the Winter Solstice. The kids ate sun-shaped cookies, and learned about the truly celesital event that started it all. IN the end, they make pictures, ate the cookies, and signed a thank-you note for Ellen's informative speech. Here are some of the pictures! |
