A new survey indicates that American religious believers have conflicting views about the deity they worship. Four different images of “god” predominate, from a wrathful, cranky Jehovah to a disinterested power that created the universe and then split the scene. Other findings show that they have high rates of interest in the paranormal, believe strongly in an afterlife, attend religion-themed films and spend money on religious books, music and jewelry.
