                 American Atheists Press Conference
                       on U.S. Capitol Steps
              Group to address "believers only" policy

    American Atheists will hold a press conference/rally on Tuesday, July 22,
1997 on the steps of the U.S. Capitol (West front facing mall) at 10:30 a.m.

    The group is protesting the exclusionary and discriminatory "believers
only" policy of the House Judiciary Committee regarding testimony on state-
church separation issues, including the Religious Freedom Amendment.

    American Atheists' written testimony to the Judiciary Committee will be
available, along with a media statement.

    American Atheist members and supporters also expect to attend the opening
of the Committee hearings Tuesday morning at the Rayburn Building.
