                  DEFENDING THE WALL...NO SUBMISSION
         Atheists "Statement of Principles" to be in USA Today

    American Atheists will hold a press conference Friday, October 3, 1997
to discuss its "DEFENDING THE WALL...NO SUBMISSION" seminar and demonstration
taking place that weekend in Washington, D.C.  Activities for the Oct. 2-4
weekend include a panel discussion, lectures, and workshops on state-church
separation and the civil liberties of Atheists and other nonbelievers, and
social events.  Also scheduled is a demonstration Saturday, October 4 on
Constitution Ave. near the Capital Mall to protest the Promise Keepers
social and political agenda.

    The press conference is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Friday morning,
October 3, 1997 in the Dynasty Room of the Best Western Key Bridge Hotel,
1850 N. Ft. Myer Drive, Arlington, VA.

    American Atheists President Ellen Johnson and National Spokesperson
Ron Barrier will be present to answer your questions about the "Defending
the Wall..." conference and demonstration.

    Watch for American Atheists' "Statement of Principles" which will appear
in the Friday, Sept. 26, 1997 edition of USA TODAY.
