Active Court Cases

American Atheists is presently engaged in a number of active legal battles, including suits challenging:

• The preferential treatment of churches and other houses of worship under the United States tax code;
• A 2006 Kentucky statute which requires Kentucky's Department of Homeland Security to acknowledge their dependence on god to protect the security of the Commonwealth;
• The placement of a Christian cross at the September 11 memorial in New York and;
• The placement of a monument to the 10 Commandments in Bradford County, Florida.
