American Atheist magazine is devoted to Atheist thought, news and history, as well as critical thinking and criticism of religion. It is published by the American Atheist Press, a nonprofit, nonpolitical, educational publisher.
It is a not-for-profit periodical and is primarily devoted to the promotion of Atheism. Formerly a monthly, it is issued ten times a year except in June and December.
We welcome articles, book reviews and poetry submissions for American Atheist Magazine.
Book Reviews must be of books related to Atheism or religion or state-church separation.
Poetry – We will consider any style of poetry, satirical or serious. We cannot accept material of over sixty lines.
Articles – We prefer articles which are less than 1500 words in length. We prefer not to serialize. We will, however consider longer material and possible serialization, when the subject matter warrants it. Although we will proofread your work, please edit it carefully in a professional-like manner.

Please give us your military background and spell out or explain all military acronyms. Tell us how you began, strengthened or maintained your Atheism during your military career.

Please tell us your job title and job description. How long have you held this position? Tell us a little about the company you work for. What is your educational background. What do you bring to your profession?

We'd like to know how religion has affected you personally. If you have an interesting story about that please send it to us along with your photo.

Cartoons should be of a very sharp, Atheistic approach satirizing religion.
Photographs relating to our contents may be submitted for use as covers. Satirical photos that are self-explanatory may be submitted. This would include something like a photo of a church with a "wrong way" traffic sign in front of it.
Photographs may also be supplied, of course, as illustrations for articles submitted. High resolutions (300 d.p.i.) digital images are preferred.

We will send a sample copy of the American Atheist free upon request. Please send either a 9" x 12" self-addressed envelope or a label.
Unsolicited articles, mailed to us, will not be returned without a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
We reserve the right to reject any article for any reason.
We reserve the right to edit all articles for space and clarity.
We capitalize the word "Atheist."
