In Memory of Paul Kurtz

images.jpegPaul Kurtz, the father of modern secular humanism, the founder of the Center for Inquiry, of the Council for Secular Humanism and many other important organizations, author of many key books, a highly honored philosopher and professor emeritus at the University of Buffalo, the creator of Free Inquiry, a good friend and great man, died October 20, 2012.

Paul Kurtz will be sorely missed by many--a great loss.

So did Kurtz convert to some religion on his deathbed, like his atheist friend who converted to Catholicism? Kurtz recounts this story in at least two of his books:

Humanism has been shaped by many people , accepted as an alternative philosophy to traditional religion, and Paul Kurtz was one of the greatest contributors to the development of the philosophy. Thanks to him, the ideas have reached this far today. - Theodore Stroukoff
