Philadelphia, PA — American Atheists today announced America Beyond 250: Reclaiming the Promise of Pluralism, a half-day event on May 30 in Philadelphia, that will push back against the dangerous and exclusionary narratives of the White Christian Nationalist movement and advance a vision for a more inclusive and democratic future.
The event will be hosted at the historic Arch Street Meeting House in Philadelphia’s Old City. Tickets and more information are available on the event webpage.
“At a time when debates over history, identity, and belonging are intensifying at all levels, this event brings together advocates on the front lines, public thinkers, scholars, and community leaders to confront the stakes of our current moment and to imagine what comes next — and what we need to do to make the vision a reality,” said Nick Fish, President of American Atheists.
Other confirmed speakers for the event include Bishop Dwayne D. Royster (Executive Director of Faith in Action), Maggie Siddiqi (Senior Advisor for Interfaith Alliance), Elizabeth Reiner Platt (Director of the Law, Rights, and Religion Project), Philip Lindsay (Director of the Democracy Innovation Hub), and others.
Welcoming remarks will be delivered by Pennsylvania State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta.
Tickets are now available for $25.
Attendees are invited to attend an optional walking tour that will visit nearby historic sites. The walking tour is being hosted in collaboration with The Freethought Society.
