Chuck Norris is a liar and an idiot (apparently)

http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=55668

Go ahead. Read the article.

I dare you to say he's sane and intelligent. Go ahead. I dare ya.

Hmm That was Robert Wagner (right?). Let me try again.

You know to tell you the truth I can't remember if Chuck Norris' IQ is 65 or 66. The question is, do you feel lucky. Well do ya, Punk?

No... That's Clint

I'm gonna take this lie and hit you on this side of your face.
Hmm... Laughlin I think.

In fact, although he looks tough and cool on camera, I can't think of anything good that Chuck Norris has ever actually said. This article hasn't changed anything.

I'm confused as to why he thinks that H.R. 1592 will limit free speech. Can somebody please point me to the part of that legislature that would limit free speech?

That article was written by a shallow-minded bigot. HR 1592 will deprive fundy christians of their god-given right to bash queers, not limit free hate speech and incitement to hate crimes. If there is an atheist conspiracy and agenda, I will gladly join in.

Hate crime legislation is unecessary and unconstitutional. HR 1592 could be used to silence unpopular speech if the speech is deemed to be casue a sense of intimidation. Xians have every right to say and believe that homosexuality is wrong just as I have every right to think and say that religion is ignorant and stupid. We already have laws which punish assault and we really don't need more legislation that carries different punishment based on the attackers beliefs and thus creates Orwellian thought crimes. That's not an America I want to live in.
Oh, and Chuck Norris is a fucking idiot.

H.R. 1592, SEC. 8. RULE OF CONSTRUCTION.

Nothing in this Act, or the amendments made by this Act, shall be construed to prohibit any expressive conduct protected from legal prohibition by, or any activities protected by the free speech or free exercise clauses of, the First Amendment to the Constitution.

The `Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007' provides local jurisdictions with the right to apply for grants to assist with the technical, forensic, prosecutorial, or any other form of assistance in investigating or prosecuting a crime.

Under no stretch of the imagination can this legislation be said to outlaw Christianity. I find it wonderful that another closet gay like Norris is stating that this will do exactly that by keeping him and others from being able to denigrate and physically abuse homosexuals.

One more reason for rejecting Christianity. I refuse to be a gay-basher like them. I guess I am just too moral to go around kicking the teeth out of people for God. And damn proud of the fact.

This is nauseating. I used to like Chuck Norris because his "acting" is so untintentionally funny.

The hyperbole in these types of articles would be amusing if not for the potential readership who will actually believe much of it to be true. There are many among the brainwashed masses who will truly believe that we (atheists) have 5 million "troops" and that we're mounting "counter offensives to christianity." They'll actually believe that Dawkins and Harris are "militants", which suggests that we're all intent on violence. They pit the patriotic theists against the scheming atheists. I hope people will know propaganda when they see it, but I have my doubts.

And by the way, what is it about the ACLU that these people hate so thoroughly? If any attempt were made to outlaw christianity, wouldn't the ACLU be the first to come to the christian's defence? Or would they refuse to accept ACLU money?

Having read Norris's inane article I see a slim, but shining ray of hope for non-believers. Generally speaking we are a more educated group open to accepting actual evidence as opposed to cowering while begging for divine intervention. We are not hindered, as Mr. Norris appears to be, by lack of general intelligence, nor do we imagine senarios which have no basis in reason. Thus, common sense would lead me to believe that eventually science will overcome stupidity.

My version of the 1st paragraph. I'm working on the rest....

I'm sure no christian will find fault with it...

This past week an ABC News debate aired on "Nightline," which pitted Internet theists against popular atheists. While I'll have more to say about that battle of wits in my next article, it testifies to the growing number (30 million Americans) of those who profess there is no God. Add to that what I believe is possibly three times the number of functional theists, those who don’t believe in a God but practically don't show it, and America is facing a new non-religious horizon in which theism is becoming a formidable foe.
Though the majority of Americans continue to claim to be atheists, a Gallup poll discovered 45 percent of us would support a Christian for president, 55 percent would support a homosexual candidate and 72 percent would support a Mormon candidate.
Such a survey is a clear indication that most Americans are simply confused about what it means to be Atheist. It also shows that the non-secularization of society is alive and well, especially when almost half would endorse a theist president.

but it's not his most ridiculous statements (the "5 million troops," etc.) that worry me, it's his basic premise that atheists are attempting to "oppress" or "outlaw" christianity.

it reinforces the fundamental misunderstanding of atheism (that it is a quasi-religion) that plagues public discourse.

reframing the debate is our greatest challenge, and idiots like norris do us a great disservice.

Actually KA I have read the entire wording of HR 1592 and ins spite of it containg the following words it is still wrong: "Nothing in this Act... shall be construed to prohibit any expressive conduct protected from legal prohibition by, or any activities protected by the free speech or free exercise clauses of, the First Amendment to the Constitution."
This law would create further thought crimes which are not currently covered by existing hate crime laws. If I am attacked because I'm gay should the attacker's sentence really carry an additional 20 year inprisonment over what it would be if the assault was motivated by a desire to steal my money? What if I stab to death a xian who is standing on the street corner preaching against homosexuality? If I attacked this same person in order to steal his watch and he dies does it really matter what my motivation was?

What I'd really like the news to say is "Jerry Falwell is dead" and leave it at that.

Did Falwell limit your ability to express your opinions? Or did he express his opinions and you didn't agree with them? Why do you get to decide who is involved in public discourse?

I find it a bit hard to suggest your argument makes sense. It appears more like subjectivism run wild.

I guess this also comes down to how we come to respect human life. I respect it because God created it. Others respect life because...well, I wonder. Because you only respect ones you admire.

I would think that Jerry would be deliriously happy to have been "called home", even though I just saw part of an interview with Christiana Amanpour (sp?) iin which he said he prayed for another 20 years to do his work.

I confess that when the news was breaking and they were only reporting that he'd collapsed in his office and was taken, non-responsive, to the hospital, I was hoping he was dead.

He was a man who brought only divisiveness and rancor, a man who thought himself so above everyone, he founded the "Moral Majority".

If he wanted 20 more years, he could have laid off the cheese fries and hit the treadmill.

That said, I'm going to try to listen to my mother whispering in the back of my head now, "If you don't have anything nice to say about a person..."

As the religious right is dying in America it's founder has also died and his death is something to be glad for. This hateful voice of homphobia and the grand demoniser of gays has been silenced forever. I hope that as this monster lay dying and gasping he had time to reflect on his hurtful lies that have done so much to estrange gay children from their families and cause young gays trying to reconcile their faith indoctrination with their sexuality to choose suicide instead. Here are a few quotes from falwell:

“AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it is God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals”

“Homosexuality is Satan's diabolical attack upon the family that will not only have a corrupting influence upon our next generation, but it will also bring down the wrath of God upon America.”

“I do not believe we can blame genetics for adultery, homosexuality, dishonesty and other character flaws”

“[homosexuals are] brute beasts...part of a vile and satanic system [that] will be utterly annihilated, and there will be a celebration in heaven.”

"I believe that all of us are born heterosexual, physically created with a plumbing that's heterosexual, and created with the instincts and desires that are basically, fundamentally, heterosexual."

“I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the 1esbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen.”

"I truly cannot imagine men with men, women with women, doing what they were not physically created to do, without abnormal stress and misbehavior

Good riddance. I would like to dance on his grave.

Throwing bombs...? Hardly. The comments that have been posted were so predictable...

So many on this board focus on the negative side of life. What else could they do, but focus on the negative side of Falwell's life...it wouldn't take much effort to find stories of how he's helped thousands of individuals...but then again...that would take forgiveness and taking the high moral road...which from my observations is rare in the atheist community...

Here's a question...

How many of us could withstand to have any and all of our comments thrown back at us...?

We have all made comments that we regret...comments that have hurt others...

Sure Falwell was the head of several organizations...but do our words hurt any less...does it make a difference if we hurt one person or twenty...?

How come no one told me about this? I feel left out. When does our counter offensive begin? Do I need body armor for this?

Jack Bauer named his cat 'Chuck Norris.' Why? Because He's a pussie.

When Chuck Norris files his taxes, he sends in a blank return and a picture of himself, crouched and ready to attack. Chuck Norris has never had to pay taxes. This year, however, the IRS sent him back a picture of Jack Bauer wearing his dark sunglasses. The next day, Chuck Norris pled guilty to multiple counts of tax evasion.

If Jack Bauer was gay, his name would be Chuck Norris.

When Jack Bauer is looking for a good laugh, he watches Chuck Norris work out on his Total Gym.

Chuck Norris once sent Jack Bauer a Total Gym. Jack promptly returned it with the bullet-ridden corpse of a terrorist, as well as a note that had been stapled to the man's chest. It read, "This is what I do to workout."

Season 5 of 24 was supposed to be Jack Bauer fighting Chuck Norris and Vin Diesel. This idea was abandoned when Jack defeated them and nothing else could be found to fill the other 23 hours and 59 minutes.

Chuck Norris wears a beard to hide the scar Jack Bauer gave him.

Chuck Norris once roundhouse kicked Jack Bauer in the face. Jack blinked.

If Jack Bauer and Chuck Norris got into a fight, Chuck Norris would knock himself out so that Jack wouldn't touch him.

like many superstitious, right-wing,swollen-headed loudmouths chuck avoided vietnam....at least i didn't see him there.....nor did anyone else stumble into his foxhole that i know of either....but i am sure he would love to send my daughter to fight some perceived darker-than-he-skinned enemy...just slap a flag on her ass as a target, send her somewhere, and go back to his real thumping of bibles, and fake thumping of people....FUCK chuck

imaskeptic,

Chuck Norris joined the Air Force in 1958 and was stationed in Korea. That's where he first learned Karate.

He's still a jackass.

It's painful to read his link about how the founding fathers would want American voters to vote for Christian politicians. Never mind that most of them were either atheists or deists; Thomas Paine even wrote a critique about the Bible. It's certainly not something most Americans want to remember!

Chuck Norris is not a person that should be emulated. Christians really should have more respect for themselves.

who cares if he isn't brilliant, he is an icon. I was watching the news the other night and i saw a segment on the military and it said that telling Chuck Norris Facts was one thing that kept them entertained (the call it up-chucking). Its not necessarily the truth but it is fun to do.
