Fornicator Gingrich Speaks of More War -- against US!

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told Liberty University's graduating class Saturday to honor the spirit of school founder Jerry Falwell by confronting "the growing culture of radical secularism" with Christian ideals.

Gingrich, who is considering a 2008 presidential run, quoted Bible passages to a mournful crowd of about 17,000 packed into the university's football stadium four days after Falwell's death.

Despite the somber tone of the day, graduates who covered the football field chanted "Jerry! Jerry!" in tribute to Falwell.

Gee Newt, Maybe these Christian Ideals are wrong. Maybe your constant stream of hate, bigotry, and thoughtlessness isn't sticking in the real world anymore, eh?

Oh yeah... Did anyone at Liberty University mention the extramarital sex you had when you were in office? Or the divorce against your sick wife?

I wonder if these are the Christian ideals of which he speaks.

Gingrich? Divorced 3 times? Told his wife (on her cancer bed) he was leaving her for another woman?
They'll let just anyone into their little club, won't they?

What on earth is "radical secularism"? Could one be more oxymoronic?

BTW there's a good Frank Rich NY Times OP/ED piece on Falwell at:

They won't let just anyone into their little club, Krystalline. You can be divorced as many times as you like, have had affairs, done drugs, and all manner of other terrible things. However, as long as you can stand up in front of a crowd and say that jeebus is your lord and savior (with a straight face), then you are "in" regardless of what you have done. After that, it does not matter how ethical and moral anyone else is in real life, you are covered with the mantle of religion and are therefore seen to be without blemish. Those not covered by this mantle are automatically suspect and perceived to be without morals. Reality plays no part in it.

What on earth is "radical secularism"?

Almost everyone that posts on this board...

Could one be more oxymoronic?

Oxymoronic...? It's actually a very accurate description...

radical- marked by a considerable departure from the usual or TRADITIONAL.

secularism- indifference to or rejection or exclusion of religion and religious considerations.

radical secularism(wait, where's my peace decal?) equals radical muslims(wait, where's my grenade vest?) plus radical baptists(wait, where's my robe and hood?)...PLEASE phrdm.... Babe the blue ox couldn't have contained the needed amount of cowshit necessary to plug in to this equation to balance it.

Why is it that jerry falwell and other radical xian wingnuts are all too willing to embrace an adulterer like newt gingrich but will not extend the same welcome to openly gay people? Adultery was so heinous to god that he made it one of the ten commandments and jesus spoke at length about it yet homosexuality is not banned by a commandment nor is it mentioned by jesus. Not once. Why this laser like fixation on one sin and not the other? Maybe adultery hits too close to home for to many people while gayness is easier to despise because our numbers are so much less than those of adulterers. HYPOCRITES!

Alex-
BINGO! You hit the nail on the head when you said it hits too close to home.

I swear that most believers don't even know the definition of 'hypocrite'.

Ha. Better to be radical and secular than traditional and square.

So Gringrinch is yet another example of right-wing hypocracy at work; trying to tell other people how to live their lives through morality-based legislation because he has done such a poor job of living his.

Not that fornication is entirely a bad thing, but please, don't live in a glass house and throw stones.

jerry falwell was the son and grandson of atheists.maybe if his father had not abused alcohol and been a bootlegger he would not have turned out the way he did.
