"Homeschool Kids Love Huckabee"

The above sentiment was seen on signs at the Alamo in San Antonio, TX, for a Huckabee rally. You can read the article linked to in the title to this post.

Among the crowd, Lorraine Cheeseman, wearing Huckabee stickers and pins, said she liked the symbolism. "He needs to stick with it to the very end," she said. "Next time I see him as president, I'll say, 'Remember the Alamo!' " And does she expect that day to come? "Miracles happen," Lorraine said.

But my real point in posting this story is about the wrongful deference that Huck gives to the Alamo. When we say Remember the Alamo, it should mean remember that those Texans who fought for independence were fighting for independence from the anti-slavery state of Mexico, who sent Santa Ana north to enforce the anti-slavery laws.

So when Huck said: "You don't engage in your battles only because you anticipate that you're going to win them; you engage in your battles because you believe they're right," everyone should remember that the right thing he is fighting for is more racism. Racism has been the main ingredient of the Southern Baptist Convention since it was started right before the Civil War over the question of slavery and animosity against the abolitionist American Baptist Churches.

So Huck's conservative deference paid to the Alamo shows me where he stands on the age old problem of racism in the United States. Remember the Alamo.

That is a good drawing though. Is home-schooling the same type of philosophy of "do-it-yourself!?"

I worked at Home Depot at one time, and there were always people building stuff by themselves, all trying to save money or trying to do stuff that wasn't technically to code but that worked. The "do-it-yourself-ers" always knew how to do things, but they had no money.

However, the home-schooled kids usually always get a Ph.D and make money, isn't that right?

I think that public education sucks so much that it is wiser to do-it-yourself if you have the time and money. Isn't 1 on 1 education (tutors) how Isaac Newton was schooled? Tutors or paying somebody else to school your kids wouldn't be half bad either, right?

You're really grasping at straws here Peter.

The entire federal government is closed for Columbus Day too, does that mean we all stand for giving indigenous people small pox and raping women? Hardly.

Huckabee's just like every bible thumper, too ignorant/stupid to know any history.

Well, any "history" (and I'm using that term very loosely) that doesn't have the word begat in it.

Interestingly, it looks like Huckleberry Hound is nailing together a Roman cross. Lol.

The title of the cartoon is "Huck nailing a cross"

Your title is misleading. Not all homeschoolers love Huckabee.

Homeschoolers are a very diverse bunch, no one group of homeschoolers can claim to speak for all homeschoolers.

He's going to use it to crucify Richie Rich, who will return to haunt him in the form of Casper the Friendly Ghost.

Well, he really is the messiah! We don't really have much proof, and some things may be contradictory..... you just have to believe it. If you don't, I would tend to think you are being closed-minded.

Still... He's still hearing those voices... They never stop... Every time he pauses... It's to pay attention to what they're saying... You wouldn't believe the things they tell him... He does, though...

Please tell me you've never been diagnosed with schizophrenia, Phreedm. I'd feel awful, making fun of someone with a chemical imbalance of the brain.

Well, maybe not if he or she were deliberately being annoying.
