Atheists on CBS CANCELLED

THIS APPEARANCE HAS BEEN CANCELLED

ELLEN JOHNSON ON CBS EARLY SHOW
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2008
Exorcism, Bronze Age Superstition, Beelzebub & More!

ELLEN JOHNSON, President of American Atheists, will be the guest on the CBS television network news program "The Early Show" airing nationwide this Monday, February 25, 2008.

Hosted by veteran newscasters Harry Smith and Julie Chen, this segment will examine the resurgence of Exorcism, a religious rite which claims to "cast out" demons and devils who supposedly afflict human beings. The practice was popularized by the 1973 hit movie "The Exorcist" based on the novel by William Peter Blatty. Recently, the Roman Catholic Church under Pope Ratzinger-Benedict has placed new emphasis on the superstition, and is training squads of professional exorcists to confront the imaginary Beelzebub and his underlings.

Ms. Johnson, a veteran Atheist and First Amendment activist usually comments in the media on serious topics such as political and social policy. She may just burst into laughter, though, when asked about the topic of Exorcism.

(AMERICAN ATHEISTS is a nationwide movement that defends civil rights for Atheists, Freethinkers and other nonbelievers; works for the total separation of church and state; and addresses issues of First Amendment public policy.)

I think what the church and the Pope are doing is a direct insult to science and research. Is that what students will learn at medicine schools?. Bunch of dark ages retardos.

The real story is that the atheist perspective is offered at all - that is a great victory.

We will never eradicate religious superstitions entirely. As long as atheists get an equal voice, we have won the important battle.

We must make it a prime goal to get all political leaders to publicly acknowledge that atheists exist and have equal rights.

Ahh, Exorcism. Since Christianity supposedly bars it's followers from outright hatred (love thy neighbor), they've come up with Exorcism in order to justify their desire to foam at the mouth and occasionally beat people for acting out of line.

Good job guys, keep it up.

My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. James 1:19,20

I think when they ask Ellen to respond to the Exorcism question, she should just laugh uncontrollably till tears stream down her face and she is left gasping for air.

Karen,

Actually, you were right the first time. Once angered, he does become the 'Flaying' Spaghetti Monster. Where did you think he gets his marinara from? You didn't think that was tomato sauce, did you?

You don't want to be on the receiving end of a wrathful FSM, cheese be upon him!

Why do you address only your dear brothers, and not your dear sisters? Oh, that's right. Women are chattles that don't have rights of their own. My bad! I didn't get the memo.

Don't look now, but your sexism is showing.

Well, It tasted like tomato sauce, but then maybe my taste is skewed after all these years of eating aborted baby stew. ;-)

Ren,

It is interesting that the Salt Lake Tribune article doesn't show numbers for christian god-ideas that are larger than the Morons (5.whatever million. Boy, they have tiny ones don't they.)

It would seem that the mormon birth rate would carry more than one and one-half percent. As one of the comments to the article suggests, the mormons must also be losing members. Which I believe requires the person wanting to leave, to at least put their wishes in writing and probably experience a humiliating meeting with the mormon leader(?)ship.

Of course, I could be wrong but, since the mormon god-idea isn't forthcoming with complete details, speculation is the best I can do for it (the mormon god-idea).

Karen,

Mmmmmmmm, aborted baby stew. Yup! That would do it. Sounds like your tastebuds need to be recalibrated. I will pray for you. You should be all better in the morning.

rna2dna,

Come on, now. It's the Salt Lake Tribune. What did you expect? I do enjoy their LTE column, though. Religion gets kicked around that place almost as much as it does here.

I have a feeling that once your name is on their rolls, though, you are a lifetime member wheather you want to be or not.

That was an outstanding video. I give her a week before she is murdered in the streets like Theo Van Gough. Such a shame.

That was a good video! Thanks for the link. I wonder what her name is? We could certainly benefit from her coming on some of the "news" shows over here!
