That is a very clever slogan!

I shall be in South America, well, around a string of islands hundreds of miles off the coast of South America, looking at things that Darwin saw. So I'll miss it.

And that's how one very enthusiastic Muslim killed several hundred birds with one stone.

That was fucking stupid! Sounds more like something that I would expect from a fear mongering republican.

I gave a listen to the musical guests. Gonzo's Nose sounds like a art-free party band zone whereas Willem Dicke sounds like a real artist. Sorry I will miss his performance.

Can you feel the love??

Rev. Jesse Jackson apologized Wednesday for saying Barack Obama is “talking down to black people” during what Jackson thought was a private conversation before a FOX News interview Sunday.

Jackson was speaking to a fellow guest at the time about Obama’s speeches in black churches and his support for faith-based charities. Jackson added before going live, “I want to cut his nuts off.”

Looks like I need to add a tag that says on either side of anything I say that isn't serious, because What is too fucking stupid to see that it is not meant to be a warning of a legitimate threat, but just something funny, I could have said a Jesus Freak too.

I typed in a tag that had on either side of the word joke, but it interpreted it as an HTML tag, and didn't print it.

Half Moon Beach is another indication mysticism is in trouble. Maybe within 15 years atheism will be in full bloom. We atheists are fortunate to have such willing foe in bible thumpers.

As a flood of knowledge pours down, rather than sandbag their fortifications the Christians come here to dig with tablespoons. I say this because the recently discussed Pew study revealed 15% of Christian youth no longer consider themselves Republican. I am more confident than ever Obama will be the next president.

All the lug nuts are loose on the McCain machine and I think the wheels will fall off before the election. I saw on the tube yesterday, at a town hall meeting a Vet asked McCain why he disregarded Veterans. McCain brushed it off but the news channel said McCain only voted for Veteran issues 20% of the time while Obama had voted 80% in favor of Vets.

This morning a female reporter asked McCain what he thought about a corporate health plan which paid for erection enhancement pills but not birth control. McCain looked like he almost blacked out before muttering he'd have to get back with her on that. Talk about funny.

I also saw yesterday, Chris Matthews aggressively interview Tom Delay to the point Delay said America should not send in Israel to bomb Iran because America could do a more effective job in a fraction of the time! The gangster Delay is callin for outright war before the election because if MCCain doesn't win, the bombing of Iran won't happen! Delay doubts McCain can win! These people are insane.

Obama is no savior but with all his warts at least he doesn't carry a scythe (or as Karl Childers would have called it, a sling blade).

Atheist Days is an awesome idea! It's a step in the direction we need to take, which is break the monopoly religion has on the building of community. I personally know a dozen people who go to church because that's what their social life revolves around, not because they believe that there is a magical creature in the sky that can read your thoughts and be your personal friend. As Dennett says, some people just practice the practice of religion.

Some of the posters on an earlier thread bring up a good point though. We need to keep the atheist community as a big tent and not a hyper-partisan back alley where you are expected to have certain ideological positions on unrelated political issues or feel unwelcome. Lithmus tests are great for slicing and dicing a movement.

Maybe it's just me but I don't think there is anything at all funny about a killing several hundred atheists or jeebus freaks. Do you?

I saw McBush try to field the birth control vs. vi*gra question as well. From his expression I would say that he was experiencing considerable anxiety due to awareness of memory loss - often seen in senile dementia.

Dave,

Time for a post on the death of John Templeton, and the failure of all the pro-religion pseudoscience he funded.

McBush supported the legislation that allowed insurance companies to refuse coverage for birth control and mandated erection support medication be covered. He probably blanched because he thought he was about to be outed with this information.

Shouldn't the slogan be "An unbelievable god time?"

Too bad it's 1/3 of the country away. I'd like to go.
