LINKING YOUR WEB PAGE TO AMERICAN ATHEISTS...If you have a home page on the world wide web, here are some cool logos -- and instructions -- for building a one-way link from your site to American Atheists. You can carry direct links to stories of interest to Atheists and other Freethinkers. Simply add the following code to your web page: <script language="JavaScript" src="http://www.atheists.org/flash.js"></script> This code will be replaced by a table containing links to current Flash Line stories. American Atheists Flash Line carries timely news articles. Your links will never be stale! If you want to restrict the width of the table, follow this tempate: <table width="400" border=0 align="center"><tr><td> Replace the "400" with your preferred width in pixels. You can leave out 'align="center"' if you do not want to center the table. Note: substitute "flash-w.js" in place of "flash.js" for a version that opens the articles in a new window. All HTML tags in flash.js and flash-w.js have "class=aa" as a parameter. You can use CSS to alter the appearance of all the elements. If you do not use CSS and/or you don't know what it means, don't worry. Follow the instructions above and you get the default appearance. Here is a sample setup, using a 400-width table (centered): Flash Line Links are also available as an RSS Feed here: http://www.atheists.org/flash.rss. Using an RSS feed is more difficult than the JavaScripts, but it allows more customization. The Events section of the What's New Page is also available as an RSS feed: http://www.atheists.org/events.rss. Recent American Atheists Press Releases are available as RSS: http://www.atheists.org/pr.rss. Adding our Convention Countdown Clock to your web site is very simple. All you have to do is insert two HTML lines to your site code. After the convention, this graphic will also be used for announcements of future American Atheists events. Step 1: Add the stylesheet reference This goes into the HTML header area of your page: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://www.atheists.org/convention/clock.css" /> The HTML header area is anywhere between the <head> and </head> lines. You will usually find the <title>…</title> line in the HTML header. The code can go all on one line, but it is OK to split. Step 2: Add an iframe In the spot where you would like the countdown timer to appear, add this HTML code: <iframe id="AAC" src="http://www.atheists.org/convention/clockiframe.html" frameborder="0"></iframe> Again, it can all go on one line, although splitting it up like this is OK too. Hints You can embed the iframe in a container, such as a centered div. To make the iframe float left or right add a style attribute: <iframe id="AAC" style="float: left" src=… Make sure you add these statements as HTML, not as text content – the brackets (< and >) are the characters themselves, not their HTML entities: < and > Using one of the graphics below, you can now link your page with the American Atheists website. Just move your cursor over the graphic you would like to use and click the right button on your mouse or trackball. Then simply SAVE the gif. image you have selected. When you build a hyper-text anchor, images load faster and look better when you enter in information about WIDTH and HEIGHT. These values also let you control the size and appearance of your images. Along with the file name for each image, we are giving you the WIDTH and HEIGHT attributes, and the html code to use. Keep checking back, too; we will periodically post new logos for users.
