In-School Bible Distribution
How to fight back
In January 2013, World Changers of Florida distributed Bibles in Orange County high schools. Such Bible distributions are legal as long as the Bibles are unattended and students are not required to take one.
However, if schools allow Bibles or any other religious literature to be distributed, they are required to allow the distribution of all religious or outside materials, including atheist literature. In response to the Florida Bible distribution, American Atheists, in partnership with the Central Florida Freethought Community and the Freedom from Religion Foundation, distributed freethought literature.
If your or your child's school has received a Bible distribution similar to the one in Florida, please let us know and we will be happy to work with you to supply freethought literature and materials for distribution.
If you support this work by American Atheists, we need your help to continue to provide this service to communities throughout the nation. Please make a tax-deductible donation today.
Note: This page is for students, parents, teachers, and others to report Bible distributions in their schools and to request equitable literature from American Atheists. If you would like to request general literature about atheism or American Atheists for your personal use, please visit this page.
